Kenny Anderson Fired After DUI Arrest; Former NBA Point Guard Had a Blood Alcohol Level Two Times The Legal Limit

Former NBA point guard and New York City high school phenom, Kenny Anderson, was fired as the coach of the David Posnack Jewish Day School in Davie, Florida on Wednesday, after he was arrested for a DUI on Saturday, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Anderson was arrested and accused of a DUI in Pembroke Pines, in Florida on Saturday, according to Browad court booking records. The school released a statement that said, "Coach Kenny Anderson has completed performance under his contract for the 2012 - 2013 school year and will not be returning for the 2013-2014 school year." A replacement coach has not been named.

Kenny Anderson led the Posnack day school to a 7-9 record in his first year, and was 1-14 this season.

The 42-year-old Anderson was pulled over after failing to signal a lane change. After failing a roadside sobriety test for registering a .194 blood alcohol level, he was booked. His BAC level was more than double the legal limit of .08.

This wasn't the first time Anderson has run afoul of the law since leaving the NBA. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident in December of 2011, and after Miramar, Florida police said his Cadillac Escalade crashed into a tree. Anderon later claimed to police a blown tire had caused the accident, but they said all the tires were blown and the rims dented.

The 14-year NBA career of Kenney Anderson saw him play for nine different NBA teams after he was drafted by the New Jersey Nets in the 1991 draft. His NBA career ended in the 2004-2005 season before he headed overseas to Lithuania to try and extend his career. Once he was released from his Lithuanian contract in 2005-06, he was named as a coach of the Continental Basketball Associations' Atlanta Krunk before taking the job with the David Posnack Jewish Day School in 2011.
