Demi Lovato’s Rehab Revelations: X-Factor Judge Says “I Had Four Texts” From Friends Post-Rehab, Doesn’t Care About Taylor Swift

Demi Lovato talked about her stint in rehab and what she thinks about Taylor Swift's relationships in an interview with Company Magazine, on whose June cover the 'X-Factor' judge appears.

In 2010, Demi Lovato, singer of 'Heart Attack', entered a rehab center for emotional and physical issues. Lovato told the magazine that the treatment center was a "wake up call," jolting her out of the 'Hollywood' mindset and helping her to realize who her true friends were.

Lovato has admitted suffering from bulimia, self-inflicted injury, and turning to alcohol during the darker times. She was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

"A couple of months before I went to rehab, I had a birthday party and there were a couple of hundred people there. It was full of people who I considered my closest friends. When I turned my phone on after being in rehab for three months, I expected lots of text messages and phone calls. I had four texts," the singer told U.K.'s Company magazine.

She added, "That was a wake-up call. I have severe trust issues but I try not to be jaded."

The loss of her 'friends' during her stint in rehab sparked Lovato to find new friendships outside of Hollywood, MTV reported.

"I don't have loads of friends. I used to, but then I realized, do any of them actually care? Now I have people who, if I break my leg in the middle of the night, they'll come to the hospital with me. Or they'll answer the phone at 4am if I need them."

One of her new friends (and beau) was rumored to be One Direction's Niall Horan.

Lovato told Company, "I'm so tired of that! It never happened. Niall's a really sweet guy and I definitely consider him a friend, but it's never crossed that line...He's a sweet kid and we have an understanding, but we're just friends." It does sound like Lovato is being genuine - one doesn't usually refer to a potential love interest as a 'sweet kid.'

The star is reluctant to discuss her love life and those of similarly aged stars, including Taylor Swift. "I don't care about Taylor Swift's love life. I don't care about Harry Styles' love life. I care about mine. I find it weird that people are so obsessed with other people's love lives!"

The singer is keeping love out of her mind for now and is instead focusing on her fourth studio album, set to release this month. Lovato is also preparing to return to 'The X-Factor' as a judge, even if that means spending time with talent show villain Simon Cowell.

Lovato said, "He's a grump. An old fart. But he has a heart that nobody gets to see. If he walked into this room, he'd treat everybody the same - he shakes everyone's hand."

Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato will appear on 'The X-Factor' this fall on the Fox network.
