Brooke Meuller Twins With Charlie Sheen Taken Away; Sons In Care Of Denise Richards WIth Temporary Custody[VIDEO]

Charlie Sheen's 3-year-old twins with Brooke Mueller have been placed under the custody of Denise Richards after Children and Family Services found it unfit for the boys to stay with their mother.

Mueller and Sheen were married in 2008 and divorced in 2011 but the drug addicted star always find their way back to each other. Meuller has had drug and alcohol issues for years, disappearing for long periods of time. Richards is a healthy, hands on mother that currently seems best suited to take care of the Sheen broad.

Charlie Sheen agrees that Denise Richards should be parenting the children while Meuller is furious that her children have been removed from her custody and given to Charlie's ex-wife.

Anybody that watched Paris Hilton's reality show "The World According To Paris" knows the addiction struggles that Brooke went through.  Paris and mom Kathy were constantly trying to keep Meuller sober and away from ex-Sheen, but in the end the troubled mother gave in to her demons and disappeared on frequent drug binges with Charlie.

"Brooke was given many opportunities by social workers to clean up her act. Social workers felt that Bob and Max weren't safe in Brooke's care. The decision was made late on Thursday afternoon, and the boys are no longer in Brooke's care. It's expected at some point the boys will be taken care of by Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, Denise Richards, who has cared for them in the past when Brooke went to rehab," a source close to the situation told RadarOnline.com.

This is not the first time that Richards is taking over the responsibility of looking after Meuller's kids. Last year, the twins were with Richards when their mother was undergoing treatment at a rehab facility.

They're our family and they're Sam and Lola's brothers, and I can't imagine growing up without my sister, so anytime she needs help, I'm there for the boys," Richards told Access Hollywood last year.

"I know it doesn't seem normal, but it is our normal. They're little kids and I love children, and like I said, it's our daughter's brothers, so I can't say no," Richards said.

Richards has two daughters with Sheen, Sam, 9, and Lola, 7, as well as a third daughter she adopted on her own in 2011, Eloise, almost 2.

A court hearing has been set to determine who will receive permanent custody of the twins.  But it is highly unlikely that Sheen would get custody, as he has been open about his own issues with drug and alcohol abuse.
