Rihanna Booed At Boston Concert; Singer Jeered After Showing Up Three Hours Late
Rihanna was booed during the final U.S. show of her Diamonds World Tour in Boston after hitting the stage three hours late and not providing an opening act to tide the crowd over. Rihanna's Boston fans were particularly upset because this was a rescheduled show after she cancelled her previous gig in March due to illness. Of course, Rihanna didn't help her cause by taking the stage in Boston and not even acknowledging the excessive delay, which led to the crowd booing her.
Rihanna then added further fuel to the fire by tweeting on the concert and again failing to offer up an apology. "#Boston I will never forget this night!!! I truly have deeper love for you now!!! Thank you for making it extra special!!! #DWT," she tweeted.
It doesn't seem the feeling was mutual, though. Concertgoers took to Twitter and voiced their frustration over Rihanna's tardiness and reported lack of energy on stage. "Thank you @rihanna for playing an hour long concert and lip syncing the whole thing. I'm glad u "balled out" for Boston," wrote one fan. Of course, it's a particularly bad time to piss off Boston after the nation united in celebration of the city following last month's tragic and terrifying marathon bombings. Doesn't Boston deserve a little better?
It's been speculated that the reason for the three hour delay was that Rihanna was watching the Chicago Bulls-Miami Heat NBA playoff game. (She couldn't have gotten an intern to DVR that?) Others have suggested that she's been struggling to cope ever since Chris Brown publicly acknowledged their split earlier this week. Brown decided that their volatile relationship couldn't go any further because he "can't be focused on wife-ing someone that young."
"I mean, at the end of the day, shawty doing her own thang, she on the road. It's always gonna be love. I'm a grown man, just gotta fast forward," explained Chris.
The European leg of Rihanna's world tour will kick off on May 26 in Bilbao, Spain.
