Steve Carell Returning For Cameo In The Office Series FInale? Fans Are Hoping For Michael Scott To Make Appearance At Dunder Mifflin [VIDEO]

Former "Office" star Steve Carell, who led the Dunder Mifflin crew as General Manager Michael Scott for seven seasons may be making an appearance on the finale episode of "The Office" this month.

It is unclear weather or not Carell will make a cameo but devoted fans (such as myself) cannot quit speculating! Although we all can hope for a Michael Scott plus wife Holly reunion, writers, actors and executives are giving the public mixed messages about "The Office" finale airing May 16th.

Last week on "Late Show With David Letterman," Mindy Kaling, a writer and comedian on the show, claimed "not to remember" if Carell would be in the finale or not. When pressed, she said she had signed a confidentiality agreement and didn't want to lie to Letterman, whom the actress "respected."

"You were there. You know who's there," Letterman poked at her when she feigned uncertainty.

"To be perfectly honest, now, I was drunk out of my mind when I shot the finale," Kaling responded. "I couldn't tell who was there."

Rumors swirled that her silence met a possible Carell sighting. But show creator Greg Daniels danced around the query, saying, "I think Steve felt, and I agree, that the 'Goodbye, Michael' episode was his goodbye and he didn't want to overshadow the ending that all the other characters deserved."

AAAH! So unfair! Just tell us!

We will all just have to wait for "The Office" finale on May 16 to see if Carell shows up or not. TVLine seems pretty sure that he will appear in some capacity, even if it's only in a cameo.

As speculation continues to grow, Steve, himself, has yet to approach the subject on his official Twitter account. And while his return may not be official, sources say that former "Office" cast members Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak will be returning to the show for the last time when it all comes to an end on May 16.

If you haven't been watching "The Office" lately let me fill you in on what going on at Dunder Mifflin:

For the last 9 seasons, a camera crew has been making a documentary about office life in PA, and the trailer has come out on Youtube.  The Office employees anxiously await the film's release to watch their lives unfold over the last decade.

Dwight was finally appointed manager of the Scranton branch and he and Angela are having some chemistry, although Dwight is dating a young farm hand. Angela, whose husband came out of the closet, is homeless with financial problems and a broken heart.

Pam and Jim are having marital issues due to Jim's recent success in Philly, yet the ice seems to be melting.

Andy left his job at the paper firm to pursue a doomed acting career and ex girlfriend Erin seems to be happy in love with a co-worker.

Kevin, Creed, Philiis and the whole gang have no storyline, but are hilarious as usual.

I can not wait to see the May 16th finale and praying Michael Scott comes back to Dunder Mifflin for one last time.
