Apple To Release iPhone 6, Not iPhone 5S, After '4G iPhone 6' Listed On Till System In The UK

The iPhone 6, not the expected iPhone 5S, could be the next release from Apple this summer after a spy snapped a shot of a UK Till System showing an 'Apple 4G iPhone 6' on the registry, reports gagdet site, Stuff. As you can see below, the spy snapped a listing that reads "4G iPhone 6," but has since been taken down.

The appearance of the item within the stores inventory further clouds what Apple's next iPhone release will be. The appearance of the listing in the store's directory usually means that item will be for sale soon, which is big news for Apple's next iPhone.

Normally, Apple would release the iPhone 5S, which the company has said all along, as they make incremental changes to the iPhone 5, which was just released in September of 2012. September is when Apple traditionally unveils new iterations of their vaunted iPhones, but this year's release could be different.

Rumors started circulating that Apple might skip the iPhone 5S update and proceed directly to the iPhone 6, after Verizon started offering discounts on their iPhone 5 merchandise. But those rumors became even more persistant when a spy snapped a shot of the till in a Vodafone UK Store, as Stuff released.

Apple's World Wide Developer's Conference (WWDC) is set to kick off on June 10 this year, and it's expected to unveil the update on the iPhone 5, which was persumably the iPhone 5S. The "S" versions usually involve smaller, software changes, like when the iPhone 4 was upgraded to an iPhone 4S.

But the differences between the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 5, were larger and focused on not just software updates, but drastic design changes, which might mean a big moment if Apple decides to skip the iPhone 5S version and surprise many tech junkies by releasing the iPhone 6 this year, rather than next.

We know that Chinese manufacturer hubs are reportedly stocking up on the materials for the iPhone 6, which has fueled the idea that Apple might unveil the iPhone 6 at the WWDC on June 10, with an earlier, August offering to consumers, surprising competitors at the same time.

Most likely, Apple will just release the 5S version of their iPhone, and the "4G iPhone 6" listing on the UK store's till was a clerical error. But, we can always hope the iPhone 6 is right around the corner, rather than the analyst opinion that we won't see it until 2014.
