Police spokeswoman Remi Braden said in an email that many of the 17 victims were grazed and most of the wounds weren't life-threatening; the Associated Press (AP) reported the New Orleans Mother's Day parade shooting. No deaths have been reported.

Of the 17 wounded, police superintendent Ronal Serpas told reporters that a 10-year-old girl was grazed by a bullet during the New Orleans Mother's Day parade shooting. The 10-year-old girl is said to be in good condition.

The shooting took place around 2 p.m., according to the AP and Serpas said three or four of the 17 people were in surgery, but their conditions were not released.

WWL-TV reported that there are three suspects thus far in this who are believed to be involved with the shooting but nobody has been arrested.

This yearly tradition in New Orleans had around 200 people in attendance when the shooting took place.

These parades that aren't as popular as other parades like during Mardi Gras, but officers were interspersed among the hundreds of marchers, which is routine for an event like it, according to Boston.com.
