12-Year-Old Boy Arrested For Homicide: Allegedly Killed Eight-Year-Old Sister Inside A Valley Springs Home [VIDEO]

A 12-year-old arrested in the alleged murder of his younger sister in Valley Springs, Calif. after police originally thought they were searching for a man who broke into the home while their parents weren't there. The 12-year-old boy told the police that a man broke into the home and must have stabber his eight-year-old sister to death last month.

The 12-year-old arrested was considered harmless, according to his mother, Priscilla Rodriquez. He was arrested Friday and charged with homicide for the alleged murder of Leila Fowler, according to the Associated Press.

"I've never seen him be mean to her," Priscilla Rodriquez told KOVR in Sacramento.

Less than a day after she said that, police arrested the 12-year-old boy.

"We were doing a house-to-house search and in some cases were searching attics and storages," Calaveras County Sheriff's Capt. Jim Macedo said last month in a statement when it was first believed that it was a six-foot Hispanic man that broke into the house and fled after allegedly killing the eight-year-old sister.

"It's bad enough to lose a child. I can't imagine losing a child by one of my own children," Patti Campbell, a longtime area resident and owner of Campbell's Country Kitchen, told The Associated Press.

Campbell, a resident of the area for 33 years and the operator of the Valley Springs restaurant for 15 of them, said she had served Leila and her family in her restaurant.

"It's just shocking. I don't know what else to say," Campbell said.

Police did not reveal what makes them believe the 12-year-old brother committed the homicide, but did say there was no proof of an intrusion to the home.
