Ed Sheeran Defends Taylor Swift’s Love Life, Says Swift Has Only Dated 2 People In 2 Years

Ed Sheeran has defended Taylor Swift's dating life. Sheeran, who is currently on tour with Taylor Swift as her supporting act, claims that it's a "misconception" that Swift is always in a relationship. Sheeran told OK! Magazine that Swift has only really dated five or six people in her life.

Taylor Swift is considered a serial-dater, having been linked to eligible bachelors like Jake Gyllenhall, John Mayer and Harry Styles.

However, Ed Sheeran told the magazine, "The rumor that she dates a lot of people is a misconception. In the time that I've known her, which has been almost two years now, she has dated two people. Fact. In her entire life, I think she's dated around five or six people. I don't like when people take shots at [Taylor] because I do know her personally and I think people get the wrong end of the stick.

"She's so successful and she's so nice and sweet to everyone that she meets, there is nothing bad to say but she was being pictured with a lot of dudes!"

Sheeran isn't the only public figure who has come to Swift's defense; Tim McGraw told E! Online, "She's young and beautiful and she's loaded. She can do whatever she wants."

"I was young when I started, but not nearly as young as her. It's gotta be tough. But she's just got such poise and a confidence about her. I think she's really handled herself well," McGraw concluded.

It's true that people harshly criticize Swift for simply appearing next to a male, who could just be a friend. Perhaps Sheeran is right, and the public should step back and let Swift and her relationships be.

However, Swift's reputation as a serial-dater doesn't seem to be dampening her success in the slightest. Swift has won seven Grammy Awards, eleven American Music Awards, seven Country Music Association Awards, six Academy of Country Music Awards, four Billboard Music Awards and more throughout her career, and she is just 23 years old. Forbes has estimated that Swift is worth over $165 million.

Sheeran, who gained popularity with his songs 'The A Team' and 'Drunk,' is currently supporting Swift on her "Red" Tour. Sheeran also worked with Taylor Swift on her next UK single 'Everything Has Changed.'
