'The Real Housewives of NYC' Settle Salary Dispute With Bravo; Housewives Will Begin Filming Season Six

Most employees wouldn't demand massive pay raises for getting into fights with their colleagues. Then again, most employees aren't The Real Housewives of NYC. The cast of the Real Housewives united against their cable network Bravo, refusing to sign contracts that Bravo drew up for Season Six and demanding more money to continue. The NYC housewives also reportedly did not show up for what was supposed to be the beginning of Season Six production last week.

However, Deadline reports that the Real Housewives of NYC finally signed the contracts and will commence with filming the new season for Bravo. They accepted modest pay increases and Bravo threw in a few additional expenses that included an increased budget for hair and make-up.

The salary demands are somewhat surprising because the cast gets paid big bucks to do a whole lot of nothing. OK! Magazine revealed that veteran cast members Ramona Singer and LuAnn de Lesseps get paid around $500,000 a season, while newer cast member Sonja Morgan gets about $220,000, Aviva Drescher about $200,000, and Carole Radziwill and Heather Thomson about $175,000.

Despite the rather generous salaries, most of the women publicly expressed their displeasure at what they were getting paid and said it could prevent them from returning.

"I still haven't decided. Payscale is ridix + it irks me to be given ultimatums. Just ask my last 5 boyfriends.:)," tweeted Radziwill.

However, the salary demands are particularly ballsy because the show's ratings have rapidly declined in the last two seasons ever since Bethenny Frankel left, which made Bravo especially unwilling to meet them halfway in negotations. They reportedly refused to budge because they figured that the cast members who chose not to come back could easily be replaced.
