Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera The New Hosts Of 'The Voice' Season 5; Aguilera Said To Be Making $12.5 Million [Video]

Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera will be the new coaches for season 5 of "The Voice," NBC executives tell Deadline Hollywood and TheWrap.

Yesterday, it was reported Christina Aguilera will be replacing Shakira as the host of the popular NBC singing competition, "The Voice." Today, it seems Aguilera has a new partner to help host the show, with former Mob Deep and Gnarles Barkley singer, Cee Lo Green.

Cee Lo Green is in advanced negotiations to return to "The Voice" for season 5, said an NBC executive with knowledge of the negotiations.

"We are not there yet, but working toward it," the executive told TheWrap.

Aguilera has already signed her contract to return to the NBC talent competition, but executives say they've been keeping it under wraps for a couple of months.

Aguilera is set to make $12.5 million for season 5 of the show, but another executive told TheWrap Aguilera made $17 million when she was a coach on "The Voice" for season 3. That figure would make her one of the highest paid women in reality television.

Despite the reported $12.5 million figure, Aguilera could make that much money again depending on how much time she spends as a coach. "The Voice" coaches are actually paid by the hour, but it's far from the usual hourly wages many garnish.

For comparison's sake with Aguilera's reduced rate for season 5 (but with the caveat she could make more, depending on her hours), Britney Spears makes $15 million on "The X-Factor" and Mariah Carey pulls down $18 million on "American Idol."

Last December, Christina Aguilera announced she would be leaving "The Voice" to focus on her album, Lotus, and upcoming tour. Cee Lo Green announced his departure at the same time, and both were replaced as coaches on "The Voice" by Shakira and Usher.

Cee Lo Green is not expected to make nearly as much money as Aguilera, but he will be back, according to sources. Despite Shakira and Usher leaving the show, they could be back, just like Aguilera and Cee Lo have returned after taking a season 4 hiatus.

Fellow judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton are also expected back for season 5, but the show's producer, Mark Burnett, said Usher and Shakira could return for future seasons as the cast will rotate when artists leave to promote new albums or projects.
