Arrest Made in University of Delaware Quarterback Stabbing

According to published reports, police arrested the man who is suspected of stabbing Trevor Sasek, the quarterback with the University of Delaware’s Blue Hens team.

On Sunday morning, Michael Creed, 25, and some friends got into an argument with the 22-year-old Trevor Sasek in a parking lot on 54 East Delaware Avenue in Newark, Delaware at about 1 in the morning on Sunday. When Sasek confronted Creed, the man grabbed the quarterback by the shoulder and stabbed him several times in the stomach and chest before he fled the scene. The attack was allegedly caught by a surveillance camera, which got an image of Creed’s license plate. This led the police to identify the attacker. Creed was tracked down yesterday and put in custody. Creed has been charged with first degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon.

Sasek was rushed to Christiana Hospital in a private car. He had surgery and police say he is in stable condition following the attack. A spokesperson from the medical facility announced yesterday afternoon that Sasek was no longer being kept at the Christiana Hospital.

School spokesman John Brennan said “University of Delaware officials have been in contact with the injured student and his family, and we wish him a speedy recovery.” Brennan continued, "We have a proactive approach in place and work closely with partner agencies. We continue to use our resources and tools to keep the community safe." Students at the university are issued a "UD Alert System" that sends texts, emails and phone calls to parents and students to keep them informed of emergency situations or crimes.

Trevor Sasek, of Limerick, Pa., is one of three players competing for a starting position at Delaware in 2013. The young quarterback is a fifth year senior at the University of Delaware.
