Zoe Saldana June’s ‘Allure’ Covergirl: ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ Actress Talks Background, Nina Simone, Raising Children With A Woman

Zoe Saldana appears on the cover of Allure's June issue. Although it's not the nude issue, Saldana isn't wearing much in the Allure photos.

In the enclosed interview, Avatar actress Zoe Saldana talked about knowing what she wants and appreciating what she has. Saldana said, "If I have something good in front of me - it doesn't matter if it's a person or a pair of shoes - I'm not going to test something else."

"It's OK to say, 'This is what I want' - and go after it. And if it doesn't happen, it's OK. Be a reasonable person with yourself."

Saldana dated entrepreneur Keith Britton for 12 years, after which she had a short, and public, relationship with Hangover star Bradley Cooper. She said of dating actors, "Been there, done that, got the T-shirt."

But now, Zoe Saldana is single, to the excitement of fans everywhere.

However, Saldana said she doesn't necessarily need a man in her life, "[I might] end up with a woman raising my children...that's how androgynous I am."

In the interview, Saldana also talks about her ethnic background. "It doesn't matter how much backlash I will get for it, I will honor and respect my black community because that's who I am."

The 'backlash' Saldana was referring to relates to her role as jazz pianist and singer Nina Simone. Critics claimed, when news broke that Saldana had been cast as the music legend, that Saldana didn't look enough like Simone to play the iconic role.

Saldana told Allure, "Let me tell you, if Elizabeth Taylor can be Cleopatra, I can be Nina - I'm sorry."

"It's hard enough to be a woman on this earth. So to be an American or black or Latina, it's arbitrary compared to our battles as women," she added.

The June issue of Allure featuring Zoe Saldana goes on sale on May 21.

Saldana is appearing in Star Trek Into Darkness alongside Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, which will hit theaters on Friday, May 17. Saldana is also set to appear in Marvel's new superhero film Guardians of the Galaxy, which is expected to release on August 1, 2014.
