Green Bay Packers Want to Bring Brett Favre Back to the Family

According to published reports, the Packers want Brett Favre back in the Green Bay family. The club and their long-time starting quarterback didn’t part on the best of terms five years ago, but the Packers organization says that all is forgiven and the team wants him back.

During the team’s eight-annual tailgate tour, Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy told media outlets that "We want to have (Favre) back in the family. I thought he and Aaron jointly presenting the Comeback Player of the Year Award was a great first step. We're hopeful to have (Favre) back in the fold and get him back involved in the organization soon."

Favre retired after 16 winning seasons with the Packers in March 2008. Aaron Rodgers, who had been drafted in the first round of 2005, had been waiting to come into the game as a starting player. Favre changed his mind, saying that his retirement was a hasty decision and that he wanted to come back. The Packers traded him to the Jets. After playing for the Jets, the three-time NFL MVP player threw for the Minnesota Vikings before retiring.

Brett Favre appeared to get along with Aaron Rodgers, they were caught laughing and joking together, when they presented together at an NFL honors show in February.

Rodgers said on his radio show, "I thought it was good timing to just let the fans know, to let Brett know, let's move forward. Let's heal things up and move forward."

Murphy said "I thought he and Aaron jointly presenting the Comeback Player of the Year Award was a great first step." He added that the team would like to retire Favre’s jersey, saying "It's got to be the right time for him and us. That will happen."
