Robin Williams Gets CBS Comedy “The Crazy Ones” With Sarah Michelle Gellar; Check Out The Full CBS Fall Lineup

Robin Williams is set to star in a new sitcom picked up by CBS, one of few shows selected to premiere next season on the television network with the most successful primetime schedule. Robin Williams' CBS show will feature the comedian playing an advertising executive with...unorthodox techniques. The kind of techniques that would get an executive fired, if he didn't happen to be the boss. Sarah Michelle Gellar will star as Robin Williams' daughter.

Robin Williams' CBS comedy is named "The Crazy Ones," and will get a Thursday-night slot after "The Big Bang Theory." David E. Kelley is one of the new show's producers.

CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler said, "We think this is going to be the most talked-about show this fall."

Other CBS lineup changes include moving "Person of Interest" to Tuesdays to pair it with "NCIS" and "NCIS: Los Angeles." CBS is making this move to have TV's three most-watched dramas all on the same night on the same network, according to the Associated Press.

Only four new comedies and one drama will premiere on CBS in the fall of 2013. CBS, due to its success with pre-existing shows, only ordered eight new series across all genres. Rivals NBC, Fox, and ABC have scheduled 41 new shows in total to debut this year.

CBS, however, doesn't want to mess with a good thing. The network rejected pilots for an "NCIS: Los Angeles" spinoff and an Eddie Murphy-supported "Beverly Hills Cop" remake, the AP reported.

Aside from Williams' "The Crazy Ones," CBS is premiering a handful of other comedies with big names. "Mom," will star Anna Faris as a recently sober single mom; "Mom" will be produced by Chuck Lorre and air on Monday nights. "We Are Men" is about four single male neighbors looking for love, starring Kal Penn. "The Millers" features Will Arnett as a recently divorced man whose parents move in with him.

CBS is also adding some new dramas to its lineup. Jerry Bruckheimer-produced "Hostages" will be run for 15 episodes, and is about a surgeon (Toni Collette) who is taken hostage just before she will operate on the president. After "Hostages'" limited run, "Intelligence" will take its place. "Intelligence" is about an agent with enhanced intelligence from a microchip implant in his brain.

To make room for these new comedies and dramas, CBS is cancelling "CSI: NY," "Vegas," "Golden Boy," and "Rules of Engagement."

CBS President and CEO Leslie Moonves said, "Our team has 20 shows renewed...Having this sort of stability makes us really excited. All I can tell you is the network is alive and healthy," on Wednesday during a conference call, according to CBS News.
