Man Destroys Maserati To A (Metallic) Pulp With Hired Smashers In Protest At Chinese Auto Show

A man destroyed his Maserati due to bad service. It might be a way to make a statement, but the car is beyond service at all now.

A man in China destroyed his Maerati publically in what he called a protest against bad service by the Maserati dealership. The man in China hired "smashers" to join him in the demolition at an auto show event in Qingdao, China. Car smashing is apparently something of a tradition at the show.

At the Qingdao Auto Show on Tuesday, the man, who was unhappy with the Furi Group, smashed the Maserati with hammers. HE says that the Furi Company, which is responsible for Maserati distribution in Qingdao, repaired his $430,000 Quattroporte with second-hand parts. He'd paid for new parts, and the Furi Company also didn't do all the repairs he requested.

Thus, the Maserati owner and his hired smashers came to the Auto Show opening with the Maserati and pounded it to a (metallic) pulp. Fed up, the owner and his assistants showed up at the Auto Show's opening to hammer their point home.

The man joins a proud Chinese tradition of...auto-smashing. According to the China Car Times, in 2001, a, Lamborghini owner also smashed car. He, too, was wrecking his baby in protest. He was dissatisfied with Lamborghini China....although he'd bought his fly ride secondhand from Germany.  No word on what the exact nature of his grumble is. Next year, rather than a Maserati being smashed, maybe it'll be another luxury brand? Time will tell.
