Robin Williams, Sarah Michelle Gellar Added to CBS Comedy Lineup, Executives Pleased

CBS announced yesterday morning, May 15th 2013, that the network will be adding a comedy to it's prime time line-up starring Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The new CBS comedy will feature Robin Williams playing an outlandish advertising executive, alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar playing his daughter.

CBS ordered only eight new series for the season, including four comedies and one new drama, while rivals ABC, NBC and Fox are introducing a whopping total of 41 new series to their lineup.

Robin Williams comedy will be called "The Crazy Ones," and will be aired in a Thursday-night time slot after "The Big Bang Theory," which is currently the nation's most popular comedy.

Williams new comedy is called, "The Crazy Ones," because of his outlandish comedic style.

"We think this is going to be the most talked-about show this fall," said Nina Tassler, CBS' entertainment president according to the Associate Press.

Williams, who's rise to fame came from his role as the alien Mork in the TV series Mork & Mindy, will fit in very well in CBS's new comedy series.

CBS is also grabbing Will Arnett after his show, "Up All Night" was officially cancelled on NBC earlier this week. Arnett will play a recently divorced man in "The Millers" who gets stuck having his parents move in.

CBS will end this season with the widest margin of victory in viewers of any network in 24 years and even win among the advertiser-desired demographic of 18- to 49-year-olds for the first time since the early 1990s, said Leslie Moonves, CBS Corp. CEO, according to the Associated Press.

While the network has made great strides in becoming the most watched network, CBS sill had to cancel "CSI: N.Y.," ''Vegas," ''Golden Boy" and "Rules of Engagement."

Obviously, CBS has found the golden formula for network television.
