Tsarnaev’s Friend Killed in Orlando: FBI Shoots Suspect Linked to Boston Bombing After Questioning

A 27-year-old friend of Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was shot and killed after being questioned at his apartment complex by the FBI in Orlando, Florida.

Tsarnaev's friend, who has been identified as Ibragim Todashev, was questioned early Wednesday morning by an FBI agent and other law enforcement officers regarding his alleged ties with the Boston Marathon bombing and its suspect, Tsarnaev.

During questioning, Tsarnaev's friend was at first cooperative with the FBI, but then began to violently attack an FBI agent. The FBI agent was injured, but authorities claim that the injuries were not life threatening. After the Todashev's attack on the FBI agent, he was fatally shot and killed.

According to a close friend of the killed suspect, Todashev became acquainted with Tsarnaev a few years ago while living in Boston. After the deadly Boston Marathon bombings that happened on April 15, Todashev and his friend were both being questioned and followed by the FBI.

Todashev's friend claims that Todashev and Tsarnaev were never very close and only happened to know each other.

"We are currently responding to a shooting incident involving an FBI special agent. The incident occurred in Orlando Florida," the FBI said in a statement on Wednesday. "The agent encountered the suspect while conducting official duties. The suspect is deceased. We do not have any further details at this time. We expect to have more information later this morning."

The deadly Boston bombings left three people killed and 275 people wounded.

The older brother of the Tsarnaev family, who was a suspect for the Boston bombings, was killed by police during a shootout outside Boston days after the bombings. The younger brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, was arrested by police for being linked to the Boston bombings and remains in custody.

Many members of the ethnic Chechens in the United States were also investigated and questioned by the FBI in an effort to find out more about the possibility of accomplices and details on the Boston Marathon bombings.
