Darius Rucker Verbally Attacked By Racist Tweet Following Grand Ole Opry Performance [VIDEO]

Sunday night, Darius Rucker, former Hootie & The Blowfish, star took to social media site Twitter to respond to a racist comment that took aim at the rocker for covering the classic Bob Dylan song "Wagon Wheel" at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN.

While fans applauded Rucker for taking on a Dylan classic, one fan wasn't so enthused.

"Leave country to the white folk." @pqkullman tweeted.

Rucker, upset behind the comment responded: "WOW... is this 2013 or 1913?"

He also directly addressed the tweeter by saying, ""I'll take my grand ole Opry membership and leave your racism. Wow."

A fan asked Rucker [via twitter] why he bothered to retweet comments from racists and Rucker responded, "So the world can see them."

Rucker concluded his rant with "If any hater thinks I care what u think. I don't make music for u. So don't listen."

The twitter account responsible for the verbal attack on Rucker was deleted by the original owner but then launched soon after by an anti hate group who used the account to promote tolerance.

The activist explained the purpose in a series of tweets yesterday.

"the orig user of this account deleted it like a wimp & I have recreated it so the orig dumbass can't ;)".

"stupid is as stupid does, and the orig user of this acct was a dumbass of gigantic proportions. It's 2013, and hate will not be tolerated,"

"We can only hope that karma bites the original owner of this account right in the ass, as he deserves every bit of sh-t he is getting,"

"This acct has been taken over. Original user deleted it, I recreated so he can't ;)"

Rucker has not responded to the anti hate group's act.
