Melissa McCarthy's Fires Extra: 'Tammy' Movie Comes To Life

"Bridesmaids" star Melissa McCarthy fired an extra on the set of her new movie "Tammy" when the young mother allegedly got physical with her son.

Ironic, since McCarthy's directorial debut also involves the "Mike & Molly" star playing a protagonist who gets fired early in the film.

According to TMZ, the twenty-something extra grew impatient trying to quiet down her son, resulting in her allegedly jerking the child into the air by his wrist.

This was the final straw for the McCarthy, a mother-of-two, who promptly asked a production assistant to ask the extra to leave.

"Tammy" has McCarthy co-directing with husband Ben Falcone, where "after losing her job and learning that her husband has been unfaithful, a woman hits the road with her profane, hard-drinking grandmother," according to IMDB.

"[The main character] is kind of falling apart and has to get out of town but her car is broken down," said McCarthy to Entertainment Weekly.

"So she ends up on the road with her grandmother. They both have their issues they're not acknowledging and they're leaving town without knowing where they're going. You're off your rhythm, off your schedule, you're forced to be completely adaptable or die."

As a result of the incident, production for the passion project was briefly disrupted in North Carolina during a scene that utilized more than 200 extras, reported Business Insider.

"Tammy," also starring Susan Sarandon, Dan Aykroyd, and Kathy Bates, is set to be released July 2, 2014.
