Samsung Galaxy S4 Is Fastest Selling Android Ever, Passing Galaxy S III; Samsung To Roll Out New S4 Colors This Summer

The Samsung Galaxy S4 surpassed the record of it's predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S III, to become the fastest-selling Android phone ever, with 10 million shipments made less than one month since its global release.

An unnamed Samsung executive confirmed that shipments had reached 6 million units just two weeks after the phone's launch, and now Samsung has confirmed that globally, the Galaxy S4 has reached 10 million units sold, Yahoo News reported.

"On behalf of Samsung, I would like to thank the millions of customers around the world who have chosen the Samsung GALAXY S4," said Samsung Mobile CEO JK Shin in a statement. "At Samsung we'll continue to pursue innovation inspired by and for people."

"The Galaxy S4 sets a new record for Samsung, generating sales quicker than any of its predecessors," Samsung commented.

"Launched globally on April 27, the phone is estimate to be selling at a rate of four units per second."

The Samsung Galaxy S4 features a Full HD Super AMOLED display on a 5-inch screen with 441ppi.

The S4 has a 13MP rear-facing camera, with a dual-camera function that allows the use of the front and rear cameras at the same time.

It is currently available in more than 110 countries, and will soon be introduced in a total of 155.

Samsung is soon expanding color options for the Galaxy S4, adding Blue Arctic and Red Aurora this summer, and later Purple Mirage and Brown Autumn to its Black and White versions, according to the official Samsung statement.
