Strip Search During Exam: Students Were Asked To Take Off Their Bras In Search For Missing Cell Phone

A school in Montreal, Canada did a strip search during a final examination to 28 students after a cell phone went missing.

The students at Cap-Jeunesse High School, located north of Montreal, were asked to put their mobile phones on the teacher's desk to avoid cheating during a math exam. However, when one of the phones was unaccounted for, the teachers decided to order a strip search.

One of the 28 students shared what happened during the strip search, "They put us in a small room. [They said] 'take off your bra, then raise your arms.' They even tapped us on the back."

Nadyne Brochu, the school board spokeswoman told, "In the heat of the action, the decision seemed the best."

She conceded and admitted that the strip search made by the teachers really went too far. According to Brochu, "It was a disproportionate action under the circumstances."

Brochu added that the principal was not even informed about the strip search before it was conducted by the teachers.

"These are not measures that are recommended by either the school or the school board," she stated.

Parents were immediately contacted and notified about the incident, and explained the situation. Brochu noted that the students can get a retake of the examination saying, "the climate was not conducive to a good test."

However, the school board has no concrete plans yet regarding any disciplinary specific actions for the teachers who conducted the strip search. The board from Cap-Jeunesse only confirms that an internal administrative investigation is currently going on.

A lot of people have already been showing intense reactions towards this incident, condemning the decisions made by the teachers as outrageous. There are questions emerging from the public about the legality of this strip search and whether the teachers should be legally charged.
