Will Success Of Harrison Ford's New Movie 'Ender's Game' Be Limited By Author's Anti-Gay Views?

Harrison Ford appears alongside Asa Butterfield in a new poster released by Summit Entertainment for "Ender's Game," a film adaption of Orson Scott Card's sci-fi novel.

According to Film Equals, the adaption is an ambitious one, especially when Young Adult literature adaptions have not been well-received by audiences this year. Fortunately, Harrison Ford can be utilized as a reliable advertising tactic and hopefully will have audiences flocking to the cinemas in November. The film also has a substantial cult following that it may rely on.

Another hindrance to the success of "Ender's Game" is the controversial views of its original author and the response by campaigns. Orson Scott Card is an open opponent of gay rights, according to TheCelebrityCafe.com. He has a long history of outwardly rejecting gay marriage as well as claiming homosexuality is a result of child abuse. Gay rights advocates are outraged by his comments and will likely protest the release of "Ender's Game."

TheCelebrityCafe.com hypothesizes that picketing is a possibility outside of movie theaters when the film is released, thereby further preventing the success of the sci-fi movie.

"Ender's Game is directed by Gavin Hood and also stars Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Viola Davis and Ben Kingsley. The film will hit theaters on November 1st.
