College Drop-Out Ben Affleck Receives Honorary Doctorate Degree From Brown University

Ben Affleck attended Occidental College in Los Angeles and the University of Vermont, but dropped out after one semester, according to TVGuide.com. On Sunday, 40-year-old Affleck picked up his honorary doctorate degree from Brown University.

The "Argo" star and director donned the Ivy League's cap and gown and waited his turn to collect his degree on the Providence, Rhode Island campus. Novelist Junot Diaz and four others also received the honorary degrees.

Affleck, though known for his speech-making skills, did not give the commencement speech. But when he was handed his honorary doctorate in fine arts, Ben turned and shouted to the crowd while waving his doctorate in the air, according to The Daily Mail.

Ben was looking older than normal with gray hair under the cap and the beginnings of a beard on his face.

His wife of almost eight years, Jennifer Garner, did not seem to be present, The Daily Mail reports, but must have been very proud of her husband. The couple has three children together.

According to The Huffington Post, the others who received the honorary doctorates were MIT Professor Junot Diaz, retired Stanford University bacteriologist Stanley Falkow, Tougaloo College President Beverly Wade Hogan, medical doctor and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation President Risa Lavizzo-Mourey and Miami Dade College President Eduardo Padron.
