Japanese Teen's $54K Bar Tab Charged To Dad’s Credit Card; Court Rules Father Does Not Have to Pay It All

Teen's $54K bar tab - how did it happen?

According to Japanese media, A 16-year old teenage son, together with his friend took his father's platinum American Express credit card and used it on various luxury nightspots located in the capital of Kyoto. They purchased and guzzle whisky and sparkling wines that are priced up to 38,000 yen or 3,700 in US dollars, until it reaches the teen's $54K bar tab charged on his father's card.

All in all, the teenage son's receipt reached $54000, all charged to his father credit card. The bill is entirely for all the champagne and alcoholic drinks that teen ordered on those hostess bars he went to. But recently, the court has finally made a ruling about it stating that the father does not have to pay back most of the amount billed in his credit card.

The teenager (not identified because of minor age) was escorted into these posh and classy clubs, in which only the patrons of legal age are allowed to be inside. Furthermore, the clients are expected to pay for the time they spent together with attractive women working for the bar to entertain the customers and laugh shyly at their client's humor.

Evidences and the teen's $54K bar tab that is charged totally in his father's credit card did not suggest any hint that the teenager had paid for sex during those time that he was in the swanky bars.

The Kyoto District Court made a ruling last week that the bar owners and the credit card company were the main responsible for the misuse of the credit card in 2010. Because of this, the teenager's father is only required to pay 800,000 yen from the 5.5 million yen that his son racked up on the bars.
