10-Year-Old Girl Put In Cage With Dog, Parents Blame Daughter For The Decision

A 10-year-old girl was spotted in a dog cage in the back of a pickup truck Monday along a turnpike in Millvale, Pensylvania.

Memorial weekend drivers and motorists began noticing the shocking spectacle around 7PM, and police reports began coming in, reported Inquisitr.

"Officer Gapsy and I then set up on the area, and a short time later observed the vehicle turn onto Friday Road from Evergreen Road and a traffic stop was made," wrote Officer Brandon Morgan in a criminal report.

"Officers could see the open bed of the truck, which had a dog cage with a small dog and a juvenile female in the cage."

The caged girl's parents, 29-year-old Abbey Carlson and 30-year-old Thomas Fishinger, was caught up by the police near their home, where they found the 10-year-old in the cage with a small dog.

Carlson and Fishinger claimed their daughter wanted to ride with the dog, reported The Epoch Times.

The parents are charged with endangering the welfare of a child, and the daughter is currently staying with her maternal grandmother.

"It was just an innocent mistake on their behalf," said the grandmother to KCCI News.

"It was nothing more than that. Yes, I quite possibly think that she could have been in danger, but I don't think that they were thinking of it that way."

"They would never put her in danger, never. I know they wouldn't," she emphasized.

Still, the incident has outraged many who saw or read about the incident.

"It is hard to describe the complete lack of brain power these two parents have," said TribLibe.com reader Alan.
