Usher Defends Bieber And Admits He Keeps Tabs On Troubled Teen Star Through His Manager After Recent Reckless Behavior

Usher defended troubled teen star Justin Bieber on the Ellen DeGeneres show on Tuesday, admitting that he routinely checks-up with his manager Scooter Braun "when he can be of help."

"We stay in contact," Usher told DeGeneres. "Obviously when I can be of help I do so-reach out and stay connected."

Usher, Bieber's mentor, addressed the recent spotlight on several of the teen stars mishaps, including fighting with photographers, allegedly furiously speeding his Ferrari and getting into physical altercations with bouncers and nightclubs.

The "Voice" judge mentioned that it is hard for a celebrity teenager to grow up under the camera and under constant vigilance by social media networks and reporters. He also brought up the fact the issue isn't unique to Bieber and that it has happened to multiple child stars.

"I'm hoping for the best," Usher told DeGeneres.

"I don't look at it as a negative though. I look at it as a teenager. He's a teenager having to live his life in front of a camera. Imagine if you had to do that as a teenager."

Usher also mentioned the troubles that social media, like Twitter and Instagram, can bring to younger celebrities. In Bieber's case, there has been a slew of information posted on social media networks spreading information about the teen star's recent mishaps.

However, Usher emphasized the fact that he remains positive that Bieber will turn around his antics and mature in the coming years, as have many other young celebrities.

Until then, he will continue to stay in touch with Bieber and his manager to make sure he isn't going overboard.
