Bon Jovi Waives Fee In Spain To Perform Free For Fans Hit By Economic Recession, Says 'Thank You' To Fans In Dire Times

Bon Jovi waives the fee for his rock concert in Spain.

The rock group Bon Jovi waives fee for the band's concert in Spain as a noble gesture for their Spanish fans currently hit by an economic crisis.

The U.S. rock star legend Jon Bon Jovi and his band will not be getting any payment for their concert in Spain. According to media outlets, the concert ticket are priced from 18 euros or 23 USD up to 39 euros only, which is almost 50 percent cheaper than normal prices for the concerts. The ticket money that the fans will be paying for will cover only the staging expenses.

Jon Bon Jovi waived the fee for their Spanish audience because he did not want to let the fans down, as he said to the newspaper's website of El Mundo. He also shared, "We didn't want to ditch the fans of a country I love and has treated me so well for 30 years."

Since the group made this gesture, a lot of Twitter users have lauded the group for their generosity through their tweets. Isabell (@IisabellChen) said that this kind act from the band is the "real meaning of music."

Another Twitter fan, Alejandro Mesa (@alejoenlondres17h), posted a tweet commending Bon Jovi, "How cool Bon Jovi is? They are not charging presentation fees in Spain. Only the stage costs. A way to say "thank you" to fans in dire times."

Initially, the band's plan was not to include Spain in their tour to promote their album, 'What About Now', as they feared the poor market demand in their crisis-hit fans. But instead, Bon Jovi and his band decided to continue the tour in Spain and drop their performance fee so it would be more affordable for fans.

During the last four years, Spain has been hit with a severe economic recession because of the country's property market crash. Thousands of houses and real estate properties have been repossessed by the bank and many companies have already shut down. This caused the unemployment rate to skyrocket to almost 27 percent, while at least 50 percent of those who are 25 years old and below are still jobless. This generous act of Bon Jovi to waive his fee to cut down the ticket price can surely be a distraction for his fans as they enjoy his rock music despite the crisis they are experiencing.

The tickets for the concert, for which Bon Jovi has waived the fee, have already sold out. The concert will be held June 27 at the Madrid Soccer Stadium.
