Florida Jury Acquits Murderer Who Shot Dead Wife's Lover After Walking In On Them Having Sex [Video]

Only in Florida. A retired Army Lt. Col. was freed after a jury acquitted him of shooting his wife's lover while they were having sex.

The 70-year-old Vietnam War veteran walked in on his wife having sex with her ex-boyfriend and killed the man by shooting him three times before calling police.

This story has everything: love, murder, sexual dysfunction, alcoholism, cheating, and Florida's controversial "stand your ground" law.

Ralph Lewis Wald only married his wife, Johnna Lynn Flores, 5 months ago, but the retired army Colonel married someone who was almost 30 years his junior.

The 41-year-old Flores used to date 32-year-old actor and petty criminal, Walter Conley, before hitching up with Wald.

Conley was shot dead by Wald on March 10, after Wald overheard and discovered his wife and Conley having sex in the living room of his Brandon, Florida home.

Wald grabbed his gun and fired three times, killing Conley at the scene with his pants still around his ankles.

And now a Florida jury has acquitted Wald of the murder after his lawyer used Florida's "stand your ground" law in his defense.

Wald claimed he thought the man was raping his wife when he shot and killed Conley.

Wald suffers from erectile dysfunction, and prosecutors use that piece of evidence to present a jealous husband to the jury, angry he could not satisfy his wife, who then took his rage out on Conley when he discovered Flores having sex with her ex-boyfriend.

Wald's attorney, Joe Episcopo, successfully argued using Florida's "stand your ground" law, which says that a homeowner has no obligation to retreat when faced with an intruder on his property.

MyFox Tampa Bay reported that in court on Thursday, Wald was not contrite after killing Conley.

Said Ralph Lewis Wald: "If the same thing happened again, I would do the same thing. I didn't think I did anything wrong."

Wald continued: "I had a problem, I found someone raping my wife. I took care of it. I got a gun and I shot him."

Wald's cheating wife said outside the Hillsborough County Court, she was "elated" about her husband's acquittal.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, after Wald was acquitted, Flores even boasted to reporters: "Because my husband puts me first, he's taking me to the Waffle House."

Both Flores and Conley have a history of alcohol abuse and petty theft. Before Flores and Wald married, Conley and Flores lived near him in Brandon, Florida.

Wald said he did not recognize Conley as his wife's ex-boyfriend when he shot him in his home.

Flores testified she was drunk from cognac on the night in question and remembers nothing about what transpired.

But Flores and Wald both said they're hoping counseling and therapy will help them save their marriage.

Wald has been married four times previously, and has one daughter from a previous marriage who is now 20-years-old.
