High School Yearbook Prank Felony: Student May Face Jail-Time For Changing Last Name Of Fellow Student To "Masturbate"

A high school yearbook prank felony could lead to jail-time for a 17-year-old student from Columbia, Mo. Kaitlyn Booth was the alleged student who pulled the high school yearbook prank felony when she allegedly changed the last name of a fellow student at the last minute for the Hickman High School's yearbook.

The high school yearbook prank felony happened earlier in May when Booth allegedly switched the name of Raigan Mastain to Raigan "Masturbate." This happened after the yearbook committee checked and approved the entire yearbook.

Raigan Mastain, the victim of the high school yearbook prank felony, told CBS that she was a little annoyed when she saw that her name had been changed to "masturbate." She admitted that it "wasn't devastating," but actually surprised to hear that Booth had been arrested on May 14 and now facing felony charges for the alleged incident.

"I was kind of annoyed. It was stupid, but I wasn't that upset ... I understand the legality ... but I was definitely pretty shocked ... When you're in high school, you do stuff that is not necessarily the smartest, and this was an example of that. What she did wasn't right, but I don't think it should affect her for the rest of her life," Mastain told CBS.

She did take to Twitter when she told Raigan to say it to her face instead of using the yearbook.

"When you're in high school, you do stuff that is not necessarily the smartest, and this was an example of that," she said.

Yearbook advisor Kim Acopolis told CBS that the process took about 12 hours, rather than reprint all the yearbooks at a cost of about $41,000.

Hickman School principal Tracey Conrad told the Colombian Tribune that the prank wasn't brought to the school's attention until after the yearbooks were already distributed to the staff and students. The staff decided to tweak the yearbooks with stickers rather than reprints.

The yearbook staff worked diligently to retrieve the ones that had been handed out and to put the stickers over the pages of the yearbooks that were yet to be handed out."
