Ariana Grande Premiers ‘Sam & Cat’ Nickelodeon Show On June 8th: Teen Sensation Refuses To Be Compared To Selena Gomez, Claims They Are Nothing Alike

Teen sensation Ariana Grande will co-star in Nickelodeon's newest show, "Sam & Cat," slated to premier on June 8th, prompting claims from many that the 19-year-old singer will be the next Selena Gomez.

But Grande doesn't seem to be too fond of the comparison.

In an interview with OMG Yahoo!, Grande refuted recent comparison made to Selena Gomez, drawing parallels between both of their singing and acting careers.

"I don't really see [the comparison]. We both started out in children's television, I think we share that in common and we are both doing music," Grande told OMG Yahoo!

"But we are really nothing alike but if you look at us and compare our sounds we aren't that much alike. She has been incredibly successful thus far in her career and I will feel lucky if I am just as successful."

While Grande has maintained a humble stance on the friendly rivalry that has grown between both performers, fans and many entertainment media outlets point to the mutual success both artists have been encountering that might lead to intensified competition.

Grande released her debut single, "The Way," which climbed up to the top of the iTunes chart after just seven hours of it being online.

"It was really crazy, honesty my label and I were expecting to get like top 20, top 15 and really celebrate - that would have been a great, great debut," she told OMG Yahoo!

"But it definitely did ridiculous, ridiculous things and none of us were expecting it. It was such a happy thing and we're all grateful for it."

Gomez has also been in the spotlight for her music and personal life.
