Jeff Probst Responds To Katie Couric’s Recollection Of Her Secret Dates With Him, Bob Saget, And Turning Down Michael Jackson

TV journalist and talk show host Katie Couric revealed she went on first dates with "Full House" star Bob Saget and "Survivor" host Jeff Probst, but neither of them ever called her back. She also admitted turning down Michael Jackson for a date.

Couric talked about her dating history in an interview with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM radio show, The Daily Mail reports.

She described Bob Saget as "really fun" but didn't think he felt any chemistry between them.

"I don't think I did it for him," she admitted.

"I went out with Jeff Probst once too," she confessed, NY Daily News reports. "I think he had puka shells on - that was kind of a weird thing."

She didn't hear back from either of them after the first dates, but she told Stern she was not too upset when they didn't call her for a second date.

"I can't say that I was devastated that neither called me back," she said. "I thought they were both nice guys ... I don't think there was real magic there with either, but I enjoyed spending time with them."

Probst responded to Couric's comments in an email to Us Weekly, Enstarz reports.

"What I remember most about the date is how nervous I was and how little I offered to the conversation," Probst said. "We talked a bit about her kids and the challenges of being a parent to teenagers, and we talked a bit about our careers and lifestyles but we never got much beyond the surface."

He said he didn't call her back, not because of a lack of interest, but because he didn't have her number.

"The only reason I didn't call back was the date was set up through her assistant," he added, "It felt weird to call her assistant for a second date. So it never had a chance to be a romance."

"Who knows what might have been? But it's a date I definitely remember! I mean, come on, it's Katie Couric!" Probst concluded.

Couric also revealed how Michael Jackson's spiritual advisor, Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, tried to set them up on a dinner date about 12 years ago, The Daily Mail reports.

"[He said] "Katie, I have a question for you, are you seeing anyone?" And I thought, this is so beyond creepy that Rabbi Shmuley is hitting on me. I'm like "Rabbi Shmuley, you have like nine kids, what's going on here?" I said "Actually, I am [seeing someone]." Because I had a boyfriend at the time."

She continued: 'He said, "Oh, that's a shame . . . Michael [Jackson] said to me 'That's the kind of girl I would like to go out with . . .' and I said, "Rabbi Shmuley, that's very flattering but I am seeing someone . . . will you tell him how flattered I am and what a nice compliment that is?"'

Katie says she wishes she had accepted the offer and gone on the date with Michael.

"I do regret not having dinner with him,' she admitted. "That would have been insane -- breaking bread with Michael Jackson!"

Earlier this year, Katie also told the public about her horrible date with Larry King, the famous talk show host, 25 years ago.

Katie's husband Jay passed away in 1998 of colon cancer. Her daughters were only six and two years old. Today, Katie is dating NYC financier John Molner.
