Oscar Pistorius Appearing In South African Court For Postponement Hearing: Murder Trial Could Be Pushed To 2014

Oscar Pistorius is making a brief appearance on Tuesday at the Pretoria Magistrates Court for the murder of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, according to CNN.

Prosecutors will ask to postpone the trial for further investigation, which could be pushed to 2014.

“There is no way anything else could have happened,” said the former lead investigator in the case, Hilton Botha.

Botha is convinced the blade runner intentionally killed his girlfriend.

"The only place there could have been entrance was the open bathroom window, and we did everything we could to see if anyone went through it, and it was impossible. So I thought it was an open-and-closed case. He shot her - that's it," Botha told Vanity Fair contributing editor Mark Seal.

Botha added, “I was convinced that it was murder, and I told my colonel, ‘You already read him his rights, so you have to arrest him.”

Sky News leaked images of the crime scene before Pistorius’ court appearance on Tuesday.

Blood on the stairs, walls and furniture lead to the grim scene where the Paralympian shot his girlfriend.

A panel is missing from the bathroom door and police tape covers two bullet holes. There are also what seems like police boot marks left in the pools of blood after the February 14 killing.

It is not clear who took the pictures.

The bloody trail ends in the lounge where a gift from Reeva can be seen and a card marked Ozzy – her nickname for Pistorius – plus a packet of heart-shaped sweets.

Pistorius has consistently said that he and Reeva had a quiet night at his house, in a secure compound.

The Olympic runner told police that he got up in the middle of the night to bring in a fan from the balcony and claims he heard a noise in the pitch dark.

He said he picked up a gun he kept for security purposes and hobbled without his prosthetic legs to the bathroom, and fired repeatedly at the door.

It was only when he returned to his bedroom and realized Reeva was not there that he felt there had been a terrible accident.

Pistorius said, he then picked up a cricket bar, battered down the bathroom door and carried Reeva’s bloodied body downstairs.

The prosecution’s story, however, is immensely different from what Pistorius is saying.

According to them, Reeva fled to the bathroom after a heated argument with the runner, who then put on his artificial legs, followed her and opened fire in cold blood.
