iPhone 5S, iPhone 6: 2013 Model Available In Multiple Colors, Features Superior Camera With 12 MP Sensor And Double Retina Display [UPDATE]

The much-rumored iPhone 5s, also dubbed as the iPhone 6, will be available in multiple colors and will feature a superior camera with a 12 megapixel sensor, reports the International Business Times.

Pop Herald said that the 2013 model will also have a better retina display or the so-called Apple Retina 2.0, which will have more pixels per inch or PPI.

The release is said to be imminent as the supply chain for the phone is moving, “It typically takes 60-90 days of production before the phone is introduced to retail,” Jeffries analyst Peter Misek told Bloomberg.

“And it hasn’t gone into production, yet, so if we assume production starts in June, that would mean the soonest you’d be able to get it would be late August/early September.”

The next generation iPhone will likely be launched in September, according to a key component maker.

Avago Technologies, a maker of custom wireless chips, “noted it is already seeing an initial ramp of a new product transition (we believe iPhone 5S) and expects a greater ramp in the following quarter (October quarter)," wrote Wells Fargo analyst Maynard Um to investors, as reported by Apple Insider.

The movement in the supply chain is a strong indication that the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, the seventh iteration of the company’s flagship market, will be here in September according to the Business Times.

Um also said, “We anticipate more positive supply chain news from Apple suppliers through the summer and as we get closer to a product launch.”

Earlier reports indicated that the new phone could be announced during the summer, but Apple CEO Tim Cook refuted the rumors. He said the company would come up with a lot of “surprises” toward the end of the year.

Aside from the much talked about camera display, the next iPhone is also rumored to sport a fingerprint sensor in place of the iconic Home button. The featured is expected to allow users to avoid manual password entry and allow for new capabilities like more secure e-wallet transactions.

If the September launch of the iPhone 5S turns out be true, it will be in keeping with the one-year release cycle that Apple has been known to follow.

The current iPhone 5 was launched at an event last September.

Adding to the heap of rumors, some report has surfaced saying that Apple will announce the release date of the next-generation gadget at its WWDC event this month.
