Rihanna's MAC Lipstick Sample Leads To Woman Contracting Herpes, Woman Plans To Sue

M.A.C. cosmetics recently signed 25 year old pop sensation, Rihanna to become a creative partner, launching RiRi Hearts MAC earlier this year. The collection will features four limited edition colors in 2013 according to Womens Wear Daily.

The singer's first release entitled RiRi Woo (a play on MAC's existing Ruby Woo) has come under fire recently for being accused of causing one woman to contract the viral disease Herpes.

Starkeema Greenidge of New York City is suing M.A.C. after claiming that a representative from the makeup line gave her samples of the RiRi Woo lipstick while attending Rihanna's concert at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Greenidge said that other concertgoers also applied the lipstick; which she alleges left her lips irritated and that a doctor later diagnosed the irritation as herpes.

"My whole lip was irritated and hugely swollen," Greenidge said.

Greenidge is suing M.A.C. cosmetics for unspecified damages. She claims that the representative applied the RiRi Woo lipstick directly out of a tube onto concert goers' lips rather than taking the proper hygienic precautions and using individual applicators or by using disposable samples.

Rihanna has yet to comment on the matter,  although she has expressed excitement about her partnership with M.A.C. in the past.

"I really got to play. There's so much to choose from, and you can mix different textures with different colors and different greens in different eye shadows," the singer previously said about her experience in helping to develop the M.A.C. products."

"I learned so much about the detail of makeup and what makes things look different. What makes it apply different is really important. Every little detail is important."
