Psy #3, SM Entertainment #17 On New International Online Rankings Chart

Charts are a great way for musicians to determine how well they are doing among their fans.

In South Korea, there are a dozen or so online music ranking charts that follow music sales and downloads. Japan too, the second largest market for K-Pop in the world, has a host of charts they use to reveal what songs, albums, and artists are the most popular week by week.

The US Billboard is one of the most famous in the world, and earlier this year they started to factor online views into their weekly lists. But that wasn't enough for Tubefilter.

"YouTube isn't just a factor in the formula that identifies what's pop and mainstream - it is determining what's pop and mainstream," they said on their official website.

"And with that in mind, it's both important and interesting to see what YouTube channels people are watching the most."

So they went ahead and created their own new chart, and it is quite a bit different from the others.

The Tubefilter Weekly Top 50 charts the 50 most viewed YouTube channels of the week from around the world.

"YouTube garners more than 154 million unique views every month in the US and averages 100 hours of video uploaded per second worldwide," Tubefilter revealed on their official website.

Because of that huge amount of content and millions of viewers across the globe, tracking trends can be a difficult task.

"That's why we created Tubefilter Charts. It's a top ranking of YouTube channels based on data collected within a given timeframe," says the Tubefilter website.

Hoping to expand the number of charts in the future to assess other YouTube trends, Tubefilter decided the best place to start is the Top 50 of the Most Viewed YouTube Channels This Week

It comes as no surprise, then, that some of K-Pop's finest are listed among the elite.

In only the second week of its existence, the Tubefilter Chart has already seen some tremendous movement and some exciting new additions.

For the week of May 31 - June 6, Psy measured at number three (down from his number one spot during the initial week) with 44,743,379 views on his official YouTube channel during the week.

The popular South Korean record company SM Entertainment made its debut on the chart in the number 17 spot with 17,337,409 views on their channel.

The Tubefilter chart also lists the number of new YouTube subscribers each channel gets throughout the week. SM Entertainment scored an impressive 60,655 new followers and Psy raked up 189,311 new subscriptions.

As K-Pop continues to spread worldwide, we can expect more agencies and artists to make their way onto the new YouTube trends chart.

You can see the chart for yourself at Tubfilter's official website.
