Former (G)I-DLE Soojin Reportedly Bows Out of Korean Promotions— What's Behind the Move?

Former (G)I-DLE member, Soojin, who made headlines for her departure from the group amid a school violence controversy, is currently steering away from domestic activities in Korea.

The decision comes on the heels of her recent solo comeback with the single album 'The Handmaiden,' which was released on the 8th of this month.

Soojin to Focus Overseas Following Solo Comeback?

Reports from the industry suggest that Soojin's focus will now shift to overseas endeavors, with no immediate plans for domestic music broadcast activities.

While the agency remains vague about Soojin's future activities in Korea, they have conducted a fan signing event and express intentions to continue such engagements.

This strategic move to limit domestic exposure could be seen as a response to the lingering school violence controversy surrounding Soojin.

The singer faced allegations of school violence in February 2021, leading to a legal battle and eventual departure from (G)I-DLE in March 2022.

There are no planned music show promotions, and she will mainly communicate with fans through her social media and YouTube.

Soojin consistently denied the accusations, and Cube Entertainment, her agency at the time, filed a lawsuit against the individual who brought forth the claims.

However, with the charges ultimately dismissed, Soojin severed ties with the group and her exclusive contract with the agency.

As of now, it isn't like she hasn't promoted (Korea). She has already held a fan-sign event and will continue to do so.

In September 2022, Soojin's legal representative released a statement, revealing, "The police decided not to forward the case on the grounds that it could be true from the exposer's perspective and there was no high-level statement that it was false."

The representative emphasized the lack of conclusive evidence beyond conflicting statements by the parties involved.

Now back in the music industry, Soojin seems poised to engage with fans through alternative channels, recently holding her first Instagram live broadcast after the solo comeback.

The deliberate shift to international activities and limited domestic exposure raises questions about the ongoing impact of the school violence controversy on Soojin's career and public image.
