Psy Receives First Award at MMVA in Canada

On June 16, Psy received International Viral Video of the Year at Much Music Video Awards held in Canada. Psy became the first Korean artist to receive the honor.

Hosted by Canadian music channel Much Music, the award ceremony is one of the premiere events that feature Canadian and international musicians.

Other nominees for the award included Taylor Swift, One Direction, Pink and Demi Lovato.

Psy remarked, "I just heard that 'Gentleman' became a platinum record in Canada," providing a good laugh for the crowd.

Psy was everywhere at the ceremony, going on stage to put on the opening and the concluding performance, taking the microphone as a co-host of the evening and receiving an award as well.

He opened the ceremony with "Gangnam Style," showed off his best impression of Beyonce while dancing to "Single Ladies," and capped off the evening with his performance of "Gentleman."

Meanwhile, Psy's "Gentleman" jumped from last week's 51st rank to 17th rank this week on The UK Charts.
