Can ILLIT & LE SSERAFIM Recover Their Image? K-Netz Discuss Groups' Future

In a YouTube poll, Korean netizens voted on whether or not ILLIT and LE SSERAFIM will be able to recover their image.

ILLIT and LE SSERAFIM's reputations took a major hit amid the HYPE and Min Hee Jin feud. According to Min Hee Jin, HYBE Labels and BELIFT Lab intentionally copied NewJean's formula for their debut.

This paired with their live vocal controversy has caused netizens to turn their back on them, despite being rookies.

LE SSERAFIM, on the other hand, has been in hot waters ever since their "EASY" promotions in March. Following their lackluster vocals during encore stages, many were anticipating their Coachella stages in April.

Sadly, they failed to deliver; many complained that their vocals were shaky and unstable. People believed they brought shame to Korea and the K-pop genre.

Things got worse after Min Hee Jin revealed that NewJeans's debut was pushed back after Chaewon and Sakura were recruited into Source Music and that the company was preparing to debut LE SSERAFIM. Because of that, NewJeans did not debut with the label "HYBE's first girl group."

With their reputations on the line, many are wondering if they can rise again. On May 12, a post titled "The YouTube poll with over 100K people voting about ILLIT and LE SSERAFIM's image" was shared on TheQo.

One post about ILLIT received over 110,000 votes. The poll asked about the girl group's image, with the choices being "No matter what they do, they will have a 'stolen' image" and "They are still rookies, they will be able to recover their image."

The first choice has a whopping 87% of votes, while only 13% believe they can recover their image.

In a poll concerning LE SSERAFIM's image, the choices are "They can't recover their image," and the other is "If they do well, they will be able to recover their image." The former has 89% of the votes. Only 11% of votes believe they can recover their image.

The aforementioned poll has over 120,000 votes.

Korean netizens on the post commented in agreement with the poll's results. They stand by Min Hee Jin and NewJeans and comment that they will no longer be listening to their songs.

Some comments read,

• "I have removed all their songs from my playlists."
• "I'm just going to listen to NewJeans."
• "I won't be listening to either group."
• "I'm not going to play their songs anymore. I hate hearing them."
• "Whether their images will recover isn't based on their talents alone. I don't want to see them again."
