Former GFRIEND Sowon Leaves Oui Entertainment After 2 Years — Why Are Buddies Celebrating?

Former GFRIEND member and actress Sowon has officially left her current agency. The news was followed by the reactions of fans, who were seemingly unaffected by the abrupt move.

On August 8, OUI Entertainment released an official statement announcing Sowon's departure from the agency. The idol actress, who has now wrapped her almost-two-year journey with the agency, decided to leave based on mutual respect with the agency.

OUI Entertainment thanked Sowon for her hard work under the agency and fans for consistently supporting the artist in her activities. Furthermore, the agency kindly asked for fans' support for Sowon's future endeavors.

"Hello. This is OUI Entertainment.

First of all, we would like to express our gratitude to fans who have unconditionally supported and loved our artist Kim Sowon. After a lengthy in-depth discussion with Sowon about her activities in the future, we have decided to mutually conclude her exclusive contract.

We want to thank Kim Sowon for her hard work under the agency, alongside the fans who have accompanied her throughout her journey. We kindly ask for your unwavering anticipation and support for Kim Sowon, who will be continuing her activities in various fields.

Thank you."

On social media, fans reacted to the announcement lightheartedly, as many also expressed frustration with OUI Entertainment for "giving them nothing" when it came to Sowon.

Prior to joining OUI Entertainment, Sowon was previously signed under IOK Company, where she worked under the stage name of Kim So Jung. However, Sowon officially left IOK Company in September 2022.

Sowon signed an exclusive contract with OUI Entertainment on November 15, 2022.  Upon joining, she went by her actress name Kim Sowon, which marked her new beginning in the acting industry. 

Wi Myung Hee, OUI Entertainment president, expressed enthusiasm over Sowon's inclusion in the agency. 

"We're happy that Kim Sowon is joining us for her new start and we plan to give her our full support for her to showcase her versatile talent as an actress. Please support Kim Sowon's activities, as she ventures even further in the future."
