All-Star Battle in K-Pop Every Month

K-pop has seen the term 'Battle of the month of...' become a regular in each and every month in the past year. With the rise in number of popular artists, every month has become a battle of all-stars.

Especially at album launching events like showcases and press conferences, reporters never fail to ask how the artist feels about returning to K-pop in the middle of the battle of April, May, June or July. Since April, that has been the pattern. The term surfaced back then because of the collision course expected between Psy and Jo Yong Pil.

Sure enough, April's fierce competition gave way to 'May'hem with the comebacks of Lee Hyori, Shinhwa, 4minute and Roy Kim, and June has seen Sistar, Girl's Day, Rainbow, Dal Shabet, Ivy and Kim Ye-rim thus far.

July will not be missing its share of stars, either. With 2NE1, BEAST, Roy Kim and Dynamic Duo set to return, July may even best its previous months of all-star festivities.

As such, perhaps we will be better off to do away with terms like 'all-star battle of July.'

Interestingly, artists seem as though they have already adapted to the constant battle around the year.

"There are many great musicians returning every month, so I try not to think too much about that. I just try to focus on my music," said Roy Kim at his showcase event.

YB, who also returned on the same day, had this to say.

"We don't want to jump into the so-called all-star battle. We would like to just communicate with our fans with our music."
