2AM Jo Kwon Spotted At Gay Club In Thailand - Seriously, Who Cares?

On July 15, a picture of 2AM member Jo Kwon at a club in Thailand was posted online, starting, once again, rumors that the singer is gay.

Earlier this month Jo Kwon had updated his Twitter saying that he was heading off on vacation, and a couple weeks later a Thai fan posted an image of him at a famous club in Bangkok.

The situation does not seem that out of the ordinary, but when netizens caught wind of it, rumors began to fly about the singer's sexual orientation.

It has been said that the club Jo Kwon patronized was, in fact, a gay club and this has led to a rehashing of evidence that the 2AM member is a homosexual.

Other netizens and fans have come to his defense saying that gay shows in Thailand are a common tourist activity and that his presence at the club is no indication of his sexual orientation.

"You don't have to be gay to go to a gay club," said one comment on a Star Daily News article. Another read, "He's probably just out having fun with his friends on vacation. What's the big deal?"

The comments raise a very interesting point.

Does it really matter if Jo Kwon is gay or straight? He is a popular idol who is loved by fans and peers for his charming personality, sense of humor, and musical talent. That is, after all, his job. Why does it matter what he does in his free time or private life?

We could probably all stand to be a little more open minded when it comes to celebrities. They are people too, and are just as hurt by rumors as the rest of us.

Living a public life certainly has its ups and downs, but at the end of the day, how many of us would suddenly turn our backs on one of the most beloved K-Pop idols merely because he went to a particular club?
