iPad 5 Release Date: Thinner Apple iOS Tablet With GF2 Touch-Screen Technology Arriving In October or November?

New reports are suggesting that iPad 5 release date is most likely to be set at the last quarter of 2013.

Some experts were actually telling that the iPad 5 release date may be at the late part of the third quarter of 2013. For instance, Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst from KGI Securities shared in a research note that there is a possibility for the iPad 5 to arrive in early September.

However, recent streams of news were claiming that iPad 5 release date is more likely to be in the last quarter of this year, at some point between October and November.

Though there was no confirmation or refusal of the rumor yet coming from Apple, many are already anticipating the imminent iPad 5 release date, especially since the next-generation tablet has more exciting features to offer than the current model.

One of the highly-rumored iPad 5 specs which Apple fans and enthusiasts want to verify is the technology used for the tablet. According to a report posted on Wednesday and cited by International Business Times, iPad 5 is going to feature a GF2 touch-screen technology.

The GF2 technology, also known as the GF Ditto, is responsible for the thinner and lighter dimensions of iPad 5, unlike the iPad 4 which is equipped with the G/G touch-screen technology. DisplaySearch, a research firm, shared that the G/G touch panels were used for iPad devices released from 2010 to 2012. The GF2 technology was initially used for the iPad Mini, and right now, it is rumored as a major component of the iPad 5.

Reportedly, the supplier for the new touch-screen panels for the iPad 5 will be TPK (from Taiwan) and GIS (a subsidiary of Foxconn).

Aside from the iPad 5 release date, iOS device fans are also keyed up with the new features of the fifth generation Apple tablet. The device is anticipated to carry a slimmer bezel design, just like the iPad Mini. It will also come with 9.7 inch display screen with 2048x1536 resolution and a pixel density of 264 ppi, similar to iPad 4.
