Lady Gaga New Album 2013 Will Get a Preview at the MTV Video Music Awards; First Performance Since She Cancelled Her Tour

Lady Gaga’s new album for 2013 is on its way, but the former Stefani Germanotta will give her little monsters a taste of what’s coming up at MTV’s 30th Video Music Awards. Lady Gaga hasn’t performed live since she had to cancel her tour dates earlier this year. Lady Gaga’s new single will be released on August 25. Lady Gaga has already pulled in 19 MTV VMA Moonmen.

Lady Gaga is the first artist that MTV announced will be performing at the MTV VMAs, which is being mounted at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Aug. 25. The MTV VMAs will be the first major awards show ever to happen in Brooklyn. MTV will be working with KAWS, a world-renowned, Brooklyn-based artist to reimagine the MTV Moonman for the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. There will be a special edition Moonman design just for the night.

The new Lady Gaga song will be the first single from her fourth album, “Artpop,” which will drop in November. Lady Gaga hasn’t done a live performance since a hip injury forced her to cancel 21 shows on her “Born This Way” world tour. Lady Gaga posted a picture that looks like it might be the artwork for the new single on her Little Monsters social networking site. The drawing is called “Applause,” which may or may not be the song title.

Justin Timberlake, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are all up for the top prizes at the MTV VMAs this year with six nominations each.

MTV will announce more performers for this, the 30th anniversary of the VMAs, shortly. Expect the major nominees to be among them.

Along with the image Lady Gaga also posted what looks like lyrics, in the form of a snapshot from a notebook. The caption under the picture reads. "I take this book everywhere." The words in the notebook, which feature on a page containing stick-people and bizarre looking figures, read: "If only fame had an IV / Baby could I bear / Being away from you / I found the vein, put it in here."

On July 12, Lady Gaga announced that “Artpop” will come out on November 11 as part of an app. The statement said , "the app itself is a musical and visual engineering system that combines music, art, fashion and technology with a new interactive worldwide community".
