Hillary Clinton Played By Diane Lane In Upcoming Biopic Miniseries: No Word On Who Will Play Bill Or Monica Lewinsky

Diane Lane will star as Hillary Rodham Clinton in a four-hour NBC miniseries that is set to premiere before the 2016 presidential election. The role of Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky has not yet been cast.

NBC's entertainment chief has announced the biopic will star Diane Lane as former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, though a script has no yet been completed, Variety reported Saturday.

Diane Lane scored an Oscar nomination for "Unfaithful," Yahoo! TV reports. She is also known for her roles in "Under the Tuscan Sun" and the TV movie "Cinema Verite."

The four-hour miniseries will be written and directed by Courtney Hunt ("Frozen River"). A premiere date has not yet been set, but the story will begin in 1998, right in the heart of the scandal surrounding President Clinton's extramarital affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky, according to Yahoo!.

One possible controversy with the miniseries may arise. Hillary is reportedly playing with the idea of a 2016 presidential bid of her own. Depending on when the miniseries airs, political opponents might accuse NBC of running a de facto campaign ad for her, Yahoo! TV notes.

NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt doesn't seem too worried: "She's not going to probably declare for another two years, so this could well have aired before that."
