Gwyneth Paltrow Diet and Exercise Plan [VIDEO]: Master Cleanse Left Her Hallucinating; Iron Man Star Admitted Anemia and Health Problems

Gwyneth Paltrow Diet and Exercise Secrets: Cleanse with Gwyneth!

Gwyneth Paltrow is known for her lean body, which she achieves with diet and exercise.  Gwyneth Paltrow is kind enough to share her secrets with the world on her blog, Goop, and also in a recent article.

Exercise is an important part of Gwyneth's regimen: "I exercise Monday to Friday at 10am and always stick with it."

Paltrow advocates for yearly detoxes, but is not so sure about juice cleanses: "I've done juice cleanses in the past, and in my twenties I did the Master Cleanse, which left me hallucinating after 10 days. Be aware: a juice detox can crash your metabolism and lead to future weight gain."

Paltrow tells people not to weigh themselves: "There is something punitive about weighing yourself. It can leave you vulnerable to shame and guilt, and it messes with you psychologically."

In the Daily Mail, Gwyneth Paltrow spoke of the health problems that lead her to change her diet: "I was a mess. I was vitamin-D deficient, I had anemia, I had thyroid issues, my liver was congested, I had hormonal imbalances and a benign tumour on my ovary that had to be removed - I mean, it was crazy. I knew it was time for change.

"It was my doctor and good friend Dr Alejandro Junger who suggested I should clean out my system by following an elimination diet for 21 days."

Paltrow was also diagnosed with osteopenia, a brittle-bone disease that is a precursor to osteoporosis.  Osteopenia can sometimes be an effect of restrictive diets.

Paltrow famously was macrobiotic at one time.  Now, according to her recent cookbook It's All Good, she avoids gluten: "Every single nutritionist, doctor and health-conscious person I have ever come across . . . seems to concur that (gluten) is tough on the system and many of us are at best intolerant of it and at worst allergic to it.

"Sometimes when my family is not eating pasta, bread or processed grains like white rice, we're left with that specific hunger that comes with avoiding carbs."
