X-Men Days Of Future Past Plot To Focus On Kitty Pryde And Wolverine: Film Will Take Place After First Class And The Last Stand

With "The Wolverine" doing stellar thing at the box office and "X-Men: Days of Future Past" filming, more details have surfaced regarding the plot of the upcoming Marvel film.

"It takes place about ten years, give or take, after 'X-Men 3,' and in the past it takes place about ten years after 'First Class,'" confirms "Days of the Future Past" director Bryan Singer.

Based on the popular Marvel Comics arc from 1981, the original plot focused on a dystopian future where mutants are incarcerated in internment camps.

Kitty Pryde comes to the center of things by transferring her mind into her younger self to prevent a fatal moment in history which triggers the hysteria.

According to Singer's interview with Empire Magazine, Kitty Pryde (Ellen Page) and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) will play major roles in the plot of "Day of Future Past" film as well.

"It's its own story, inspired by [the comics] 'Days of Future Past.' [Kitty Pryde is] the prime facilitator -- it's her power that enables that to happen. But it's Wolverine who has the strength and the stamina to be able to go back on this journey. Charles [Xavier] is in a very dark hole when we meet him, and Erik [Magneto] has been gathering his power. They're in a radically different place."

This makes sense, since chronologically Kitty Pryde would not even exit in the 70's, at least in the film universe.

But with these plot spoilers, "X-Men: Days of Future Past" should see a healthy dose of both Page and Jackman once it is released next May.
