Upcoming Windows Phone 2013: Nokia's 6" Phablet To Be Announced On Sept. 26

After Apple's event on Tuesday, there are now new devices from the two top platforms in the smartphone industry. We have the Sony Xperia Z1 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for Android, and the iPhone 5S and 5C for iOS. Now, Nokia wants to join the party for the Microsoft-owned platform. One of the upcoming windows phone 2013 talked about today is the Lumia 1520.

We have been hearing about this Lumia brand for the past couple of weeks, most of them courtesy of notorious leakster Evleaks, and now another report has made its way to the rumor mill.

According to Evleaks once again, the Lumia 1520, also known as the Bandit, will be announced by Nokia on September 27 at an unknown venue.

Measuring 6 inches, its screen will be the first in the Windows Phone platform, officially bringing in Nokia and Microsoft to the phablet wars. While it will only have one platform to compete with, Android, there are almost a dozen quality phablets which would be tough to beat in their own game.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is among the top contenders with its 5.7" screen, and beast-like features as far as performance is concerned. Then there is the Sony Xperia Z1, which according to GSM Arena, performed better than both of Nokia's previous 'camera phones', the 808 Pureview, and the Lumia 1020. It will be interesting to see whether the Lumia 1520's new camera would stand a chance.

And lastly, the upcoming HTC One Max, which is also rumored to be announced this month. Reportedly boasting an aluminum chassis similar to the One, this superphone will be one of the most sought after handsets when it comes to design.

Nokia wants to make a splash at least before it bades the industry goodbye, but it better make it a great and memorable one.
