Old Farmer's Almanac Winter Predictions: Cold, Snowy Season For Most Of U.S. Especially In Northeast - Super Bowl Could Be In A Blizzard

Old Farmer's Almanac winter predictions: Warning everyone to be prepared for a cold and snowy winter for the 2013-2014 season.

The Old Farmer's Almanac winter predictions come from a drop in solar activity and a change in ocean patterns that are pointing to colder-than-average temperatures and higher-than-average snowfall totals.

For 222 years, the Old Farmer's Almanac has been around making winter, spring, fall and summer predictions every year for the company based in Dublin, N.H. A 197-year-old Maine-based Farmer's Almanac said the same for this upcoming winter.

For residents of the Mid-Atlantic into southern New England, prepare to get dumped on by loads of the snow, according to the Almanac.

"....southern New England, Southeast New York, New Jersey, and down through the Mid-Atlantic region will be seeing either copious rains and/or snows," the Almanac said on its website. "We are forecasting stormy weather for this, the biggest of sporting venues."

With Super Bowl XLVIII being held inside MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. and it could become a game played on white snow. Almanac managing editor Sandi Duncan is naming Super Bowl XLVIII the "Storm Bowl" that will take place on Feb. 2, 2014.

The Old Farmer's Almanac predicts a cold winter for every region but the lower Great Lakes, upper Midwest and the northern states of the Northeast.
