Long-time SNL producer Lorne Michaels confirmed that Cecily Strong will join Seth Meyers for the Weekend Update segment,s tarting with the premiere episode on Sept. 25.

 Seth Meyers announced that he’s leaving his spot as head writer and “Weekend Update” anchor to take on his own NBC late-night show on NBC by next January. At midseason, Strong will either transition into a solo role on the segment - or, if Michaels has it his way, Meyers will stay on despite his new gig as host of LATE NIGHT, which begins Feb. 24.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that Saturday Night Live will add five new cast members to SNL. New comedians include show writer Mike O'Brien ande Beck Bennett and Kyle Mooney, who founded who founded the comedy group Good Neighbor at USC. Also John Milhiser and Noel Wells. The New York Times als reported that Saturday Night Live will add a sixth cast member, Brooks Whelan. Tim Robinson moves to SNL's the writers' desk.

As previously reported, SNL alum and 30 ROCK star/creator Tina Fey will host the season opener on Sept. 28. Miley Cyrus will host and be the musical guest on Oct. 5.

It is likely that Jason Sudeikis and Fred Armisen may be moving on from the weekly skit show.

Last year Kristen Wiig had a tearful exit from the long-running comedy.

The New York Post ran a piece wondering if this season may be their last.

Bill Hader said goodnight to “Saturday Night Live” at the season finale.

Lorne Michaels told the New York Times, “Cecily, from the first show, was right there. She exploded.”

Cecily Strong is in her second year as a Saturday Night Live cast member on NBC.

Cecily Strong will join the Weekend Update desk on SNL’s season premiere on Sept. 28.
